Local degree student Jayke Cox achieved his first break supporting international superstar Gabriella Cilmi on her UK tour. The opportunity to play came alongside a single deal with Doc Redeye Music to release a track in the summer, instigating his first serious step to a musical a career.

The gig came as part of her UK tour giving Jayke a unique opportunity. “The experience of performing with a world class artist in front of a large audience has given me a great deal of confidence in my own material, and helped me to create an entire new fan-base”
Jayke began playing music at the age of 11 quickly finding an escape through the guitar and Ukelele. Born in Crawshawbooth he developed his talent through sessions at school. “I misbehaved as a kid, but the support I had at school helped me embrace music and find a creative side”
He played rugby for Rossendale , and although sport was an important part of his life he soon found his interest in performing taking over. As his playing ability developed he started playing gigs locally with various bands, further realising his love of playing live.
Joining Burnley College on a music BTEC course gave him the chance to take things more seriously, and successfully completing this allowed him to gain a place on the degree course at UcLan Burnley. “The degree has given me a true insight into the industry, not only developing my performing skills but understanding the business and production skills needed to make a living”.
A pre-release excerpt of Jayke’s first single will be available on Doc Redeye’s website towards the end of the month.
