Doc Redeye Presents
UB40 LIVE + support – Uclan Burnley, Princess Way, Burnley, BB12 0AN

Date: Sat 22 November

Doors open: 7.00 pm

Tickets: £26.00 (BUY NOW)

Following their sell-out UK tour earlier this year, Birmingham’s reggae stars UB40 will embark on a second leg UK tour in October and November 2014.

The tour’s eighteen dates will include UCLAN Burnley on Princess Way, launching the venue and the town into the major music circuit. Event organiser Steve Reid commented “We are really happy to announce one of the biggest bands in the world coming to Burnley. After the disappointment of Lawson’s illness and unavailability to play in May, getting a band of this stature into Burnley totally launches the venue on an international level. The concert is open to all; the venue is perfect with excellent parking, food and drink available throughout the night. This is a wonderful chance to see the band ‘up close’ rather than in an arena, and listen to some of the greatest hits of all time”.

Reflecting on the success of the spring leg of the tour, UB40 sax player Brian Travers says, “Playing numerous intimate venues is a much more enjoyable experience for both our audience and the band, compared to playing a handful of enormodomes with the audience stuck thirty feet away behind a safety barrier. Every night we were looking at each other and saying “Why didn’t we do this years ago?”

Travers added, “We have always had a close relationship with our audience, but this tour was very special. Every night sold-out, but playing venues in the centre of towns gave us the chance to have a beer in the local bars next door, just hanging out and talking with fans who have been our friends for the last 35 years, and then playing a gig.”

Looking ahead to the forthcoming tour, Travers said, “On behalf of UB40, we can’t wait to get back on the road in the UK in October & November and catch up from where we left off, playing in towns and cities UB40 haven’t had the opportunity to perform in before, and also get back to some of the places where we started our wonderful life in music. In the meantime, UB40 will be performing further European dates in France, Belgium, Iceland, Norway and Germany, amongst other countries. See you all soon!”

Naming themselves after the unemployment benefit form, UB40 formed in 1978, before releasing their debut album ‘Signing Off’ in August 1980 – considered by many to be one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band. It was the start of a career that has since seen the band have over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and achieve sales of over 100 million records, making UB40 one of the most successful British groups of all-time. The band’s latest Top 30 album ‘Getting Over The Storm’ was awarded BBC Radio 2’s ‘Album Of The Week’ accolade and received 5-star reviews from the UK’s music press on its release in September 2013.

Tickets will be available on general sale from Friday 4th July. £26.00 (Plus ticket fee) For tickets please go to:-

North by North-West Festival (The Mod Invasion)

6th and 7th June 2014 – The Muni Theatre, Albert Road, COLNE

Pendle Leisure Trust and Doc Redeye Events bring a brand new two-day Festival to Colne.

North by North-West Festival will celebrate 50 years of Mod music next year – the Golden Anniversary of when it all began.

The Who and The Kinks were formed in 1964, Small Faces in 1965 and Love Affair in 1966, playing in clubs across the UK such as The Marquee and The Flamingo in London to The Astoria in Rawtenstall and The Nelson Imp.

Then came ‘The Mod Revival’ which started around the late 1970s, inspired by the 1979 film ‘Quadrophenia’ and mod-influenced bands such as The Jam, Secret Affair and Purple Hearts. Following this was Two Tone Ska music with bands such as Bad Manners with Buster Bloodvessal, Madness and The Specials.

Next year there will be no need to travel to Brighton, Margate or Clacton to celebrate 50 years of this amazing music, because Colne is to have its own Mod Invasion at the Muni Theatre on June 6th and 7th.

From The Jam, featuring Bruce Foxton, will headline the opening night with some of the great Mod anthems. They will be supported by The 45’s and The Universal.

Saturday’s line-up features The Itch, The Kast Off Kinks, featuring former members of The Kinks, The Small Fakers, Steve Ellis’ Love Affair who will be performing, among others, their most famous tune “Everlasting Love” and Bad manners, featuring Buster Bloodvessel will round off what promises to be a fantastic weekend and a musical trip down memory lane.

MC and DJ, Northern Soul’s Roman, will be keeping the atmosphere going with musical interludes from the era.

Organisers Pendle Leisure Trust and Doc Redeye Events, are teaming up with the Cheeky Northern Monkeys Scooter Club who will be descending on Colne and Nelson Rugby Club for their annual weekend.

They will be linking up with other local scooter clubs for a rally through the town, which should provide quite a spectacle and take visitors back to the time when Mods ruled.

With sponsorship backing from Mini, Lloyds Colne, AMS Neve and Wills Electrical in Colne, the Festival promises to be a great event.

So, dig up your Vespa or Lambretta from the bottom of the garden, get the classic mini out of storage, put on your Ben Sherman, Fred Perry or Harrington Jacket and join all the 21st Century Mods at Colne, for the first ever North by North-West Festival.

Cry Don’t Cry – Megan J Ingham

Doc Redeye announce a series of productions by independent artists as Megan J Ingham (18) releases her first original single ‘Cry Don’t Cry’ for national distribution.

Megan has a totally definitive style, mixing classical orchestrations with beats to create a unique and original sound. Her operatic style has a drum and bass feel that at times creates a surreal re-incarnation almost reminiscent of the ‘Blue Diva’ (Fifth Element Director-Luc Besson).
The track has been developed with producer Stephen D Reid who has himself had a top 40 hit this year with ‘One in a Million’ by Re-Connected. Steve commented “Megan has an amazing voice, I love working with different styles and this has been a great opportunity to develop new areas of writing, especially with the extended mix exploring the full extent of her talent.”
She has been singing since the age of 13, gaining her first real opportunities to perform on stage during her school years appearing in ‘MacBeth’, ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ and ‘Evita’, with recent performances as part of the Burnley Light Opera Society.
The maturity of her voice belies her years as she is already creating interest across the music industry with powerful performances and haunting melodies, giving her an original and refreshing sound for today’s music scene. The track is now on I-Tunes, Amazon and all good downloads, with the extended mix video (filmed at the Hippodrome Theatre, Colne), now available to see on You Tube
